“One of us had to go”….
On May 23rd 2025 I am putting on a night of true crime at the fantastic Alexander Centre in Faversham. The evening centres on a long-forgotten murder investigation in a sleepy town on the North Kent coast that caused a nationwide sensation. The audience becomes the jury for the night and examines the same evidence presented at the original trial…will you find the original prime suspect guilty or not guilty?
They say truth is stranger than fiction and that may well be true of the astonishing story the evening examines: international playboys, toxic love-triangles, celebrated sports stars, war heroes, multiple mysterious deaths, the most feared 'hanging judge' of the day and Edward VII - all feature in a case that made headlines all over the world. Okay, the link to Edward VII is slightly tenuous, but he seems to feature in most of the scandals of the day, so needs to get included somewhere…
After researching the history of a house, I came across the incredible story of the crime in question and I thought it deserved to be brought back to wider attention, so join me for a barely-believable and interactive night of true crime, history and tragedy.
Murder Mysteries - We the Jury
These events see you team up with a group of friends, family or work colleagues to act as the jury on a real-life historic murder. Using documents from the original case file, I will guide you all through the evidence that was gathered against the prime suspect and presented at the actual court case. Your job is then simple – do you and your fellow jurors find the defendant guilty or not guilty? Each event lasts about 2 hours and highly enjoyable and thought-provoking experiences.
